Work In Progress: Kingdom

A portrait series about men doing The Work.

Kingdom is an ongoing large-format portrait project, looking at men in the process of self-transformation.

Initiated in 2024 during the course of some own deep work, part of a group, I felt a need to document not the before, not the after, but the during. With presentation on social media often being a somewhat performative best (or ideal) case scenario, I invite each man to take his portrait while he’s in the midst of change, whatever that means for him.

While the framing remains consistent, each man chooses his own location – somewhere with great meaning to them. On the day, we talk about the place, its meaning, and I invite him to think about where he’s heading, where he’s been, what his purpose might be.

He then takes his own photograph via remote trigger, but only when he’s ready, when he feels the most him. There are no do-overs.

The image that is recorded is of a man, just as he is, on that day – on his way from someplace to someplace else.

Do get in touch if you’d like more info about this project, or if you’d like to be the guy holding the squeezy trigger, I’m always happy to chat.
